Mirabegron is the world's first β3-adrenoceptor agonist approved for treating overactive bladder (OAB) in adults. It selectively activates β3-adrenoceptors in the bladder, which relaxes the detrusor muscle, increases bladder capacity, and lengthens the interval between urinations. Moreover, it does not affect bladder emptying and has a low risk of causing acute urinary retention. It is used to relieve symptoms such as urgency, frequency, and/or urge urinary incontinence in OAB patients. Mirabegron is recommended as a first-line treatment in multiple authoritative guidelines, including the 2023 EAU Guidelines on Non-Neurogenic Male and Female Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms, the 2024 AUA/SUFU Guideline on Diagnosis and Treatment of Idiopathic Overactive Bladder, and the 2022 Chinese Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Urological and Andrological Diseases. Zebixin® Mirabegron Extended-Release Tablets were approved in May 2024. They feature rapid onset, long-lasting efficacy, good tolerability, and are suitable for long-term use, making them a preferred choice for OAB treatment.
